Technical guide
Two parameters define your ideal stick: flex and curve. Here's everything you need to know to make the right choice.
FLEX
Flex is your stick's stiffness. When you shoot, the stick bends and snaps back: that catapult effect is what propels the puck. The higher the flex, the stiffer the stick and the more powerful the shot.
Starting point: your weight
| Your weight | Starting flex |
|---|---|
| Under 60 kg | Flex 55 (Junior) or 70 |
| 60–75 kg | Flex 70 |
| 75–90 kg | Flex 77 |
| 90 kg and up | Flex 87 |
Adjust to your preferences
Go one flex lower if: you love wrist shots, precision, fast and technical play.
Go one flex higher if: you love slap shots, physical play, raw power.
Cutting your stick? Every 2 cm cut = roughly +5 flex. Factor that in.
THE CURVE
NEPHE offers two curves, each suited to a different playing style.
P92 Mid-open
The versatile curve. Good passing precision, effective mid-height shots. Recommended for most players, any style.
P28 Full-open
The offensive curve. Great for easy puck lift, fine wrist shots, dangling. Favors high shots and deflections.
Summary
| Your style | Recommended flex | Recommended curve |
|---|---|---|
| Technical, wrist shots, speed | Low flex (70 or less) | P28 |
| Versatile, passes + shots | Medium flex (77) | P92 |
| Physical, slap shots, power | High flex (87) | P92 or P28 |
| Junior / young player | Flex 55 | P92 |
